The Formula One Grand Prix in Singapore is a party! It’s also quite an undertaking as Singapore offers the rare combination of a track on the streets of the city, and the race is at night. Preparing for this event starts many months before the actual race, which takes place every September. Living close to the finish line grandstands for a few years, we were able to see the incredible work that goes into setting up and tearing down the course. We were also able to attend 2019’s F1 before it was cancelled for two years due to Covid. The atmosphere is absolutely electric, and there is a buzz in the air. Literally, there is a buzz in the air. Cars whip through the heart of Singapore at ridiculous speeds. The roar of the cars flying past you at over 200 mph, just a few feet away from where you sitting, is a serious adrenaline rush.
Biking around Marina Bay Gardens into Singapore’s financial district is one of my favorite rides of all time. The Gardens alone are a joy at every turn, but once you hit the Lotus Flower, make the turn around Marina Bay Sands, and catch a glimpse of downtown Singapore, it makes an hour long bike ride in the boiling heat fly by.
Flower Dome and Cloud Forest Dome are two buildings that will catch your eye the minute you see them. Immense glass structures, they are two biodomes that have been exquisitely designed to filter out heat from the sun and control light levels to limit heat gain. Aside from being a great attraction to experience, Flower Dome and Cloud Forest Dome are iconic structures in Singapore’s skyline, and fun to ride around too. They are part of Marina Bay Gardens, which is one of our favorite places in the word to be on a bike.
